The 2014 Baseball Trip

JUNE 17-23: This season our baseball trip took us from one end of Ohio to the next, and even into Pennsylvania a little bit. We actually started off at the Midwest League All-Star Classic in Grand Rapids. This was a great time, and we got to meet some of the players and Tigers legend Willie Horton. Our next stop was Columbus, Ohio, where we met Darryl for a Clippers game. We were able to see some of it before getting rained out. We then headed north to watch the Toledo Mud Hens, where we had great weather and a great game. Our next stop that same day, was way over in Niles, Ohio to see the Mahoning Valley Scrappers in our first experience with the NY-Penn League. The next day we went to Progressive Field, home of the Cleveland Indians, and took a ballpark tour. After that we watched the Lake County Captains over in Eastlake. The next morning we drove south through Canton, Ohio, seeing the Football Hall of Fame, and ended up in Washington, PA to see the Wild Things. A straight shot north took us into Erie for a Sea Wolves game, and that was a great ballpark. We ended with a game at the Akron Rubberducks, that had a 2 1/2 hour rain delay. Finally Some Mini-Golf

JUNE-I don't think we were able to make it out last year, but I made sure we got some putt putt in this summer. I was getting ready to leave for my annual baseball trip, and I really wanted something fun for us to do as a family, and this was it. All the kids did well and had a good time. Afterward, they won some free games, too, which we used later in the summer. There aren't many things to do up here in the Soo, so at least we have this!

Gone Fishin'

MAY-Another late entry, but back in May Trevor really wanted to start fishing with his friends. His mom bought him a new rod and reel, along with some new tackle. He was nice enough to share with his brother and sister, also. I really need to get their rods re-strung and ready to go my next year! He didn't catch much, but still fun times to be together. Here are some pics of us at Rotary Island here in the Soo.

Little League Pics 2014 Vol. 1

JUNE: Yep, so far behind here are some pics of the boys playing baseball in June. Brian was playing for the Angels, and Trevor was lucky enough to play for his favorite team, the Cubs. I really had a lot of fun coaching the Angels, and being an assistant coach for the Cubs. There were a lot of great kids on both teams. The weather was still a little cool, but we made the best of it and had a good time.

Star Wars day in Lansing

MAY 4-Wow, I'm so far behind on this blog, I'll just have to play catch-up a few blogs at a time! Here is our ballgame in Lansing, as the Lugnuts hosted the West Michigan Whitecaps at Cooley Law School Stadium. It was Star Wars day, and the kids and I had a great time meeting the characters and ballplayers alike. It was a great game with the Whitecaps coming up big in the late innings to pull out the victory. Trevor was able to get a game ball, and Lily took Brian to run the bases after the game. It was just a super fun day for all of us, and probably one of the highlights of the summer, too.
